SOIL EVOLUTION IN RECENTLY DEPOSITED AEOLIAN SEDIMENTS IN THE SEMIARID. EFFECT OF VARIABLE THICKNESSES
Keywords:
pedogenesis, organic carbon, semiarid, wind erosionAbstract
Exist evidence that the Caldenal of the semiarid Pampas functions as a sink of aeolian sediments. These sediments accumulate on a layer of volcanic ash deposited in 1932, which allows to analyze the degree of soil evolution in a 90-year period. Therefore, some physical, chemical and morphological properties, from windward to leeward, of the superficial horizon (Ah) of a soil of a caldén forest, which evolves in those sediments, were evaluated. The results indicated that the evolution of the soil was incipient, although a tendency to develop better towards windward than leeward.
